| The Windows XP computer must have a modem installed with the correct drivers for it to establish a connection to the Internet. To make any changes, the Windows XP CD may be required. | |||

Open
'Control Panel' and click on 'Phone and Modem Options'. |

Some systems may skip this step; to skip CLICK HERE. |

To check for pulse or tone dialing, click the EDIT BUTTON. |

Click
'Properties' to proceed to the modem properties box in the next frame. |
|
||

If you change the Maximum Port Speed in Windows XP, you may notice that after all these steps are complete, XP may have changed the Speed back to 115200 ; no sweat, it may still work properly. |

The customer can click 'Query Modem' to test the modem or you can click the 'Advanced'
tab to proceed to the nest step. |

||
|
The 'Extra Settings String' ( ATZ ) may work on some 56K modems, for the best string for your particular modem go to www.restartoffice.com/init.htm and choose the init command that matches your modem. |
